About Us

Vortex Recycling collects used oil filters from wholesale collectors and process them in our facility in New Castle, Pennsylvania.

We are quickly becoming the choice of a number of major national corporations and other companies who want their used oil filter problems taken care of now, without worrying about any liabilities later on.

Just a short time ago, most used oil filters were disposed of in landfills.  Today, most states have banned the landfill disposal of used oil filters.  All states require that the filters, at a minimum, be drained of all free-flowing oil before they are disposed.

We have constructed one of the largest used oil filter processing facilities in the world.  We can process 1,500 barrels of filters per day in our self-contained, 161,000 pound system.  A semi-trailer full of filters can be unloaded into our receiving pit, up a 93 foot conveyor and into our 55 foot silo in 8 minutes.  The system holds 720 barrels (4 semi-loads).  Our patented "Mega Crusher" compacts all of the oil filter components into scrap steel and reclaims 97% of the oil and 100% of the steel.  We can generate 120 tons of scrap steel that does not drip oil and 10,000 gallons of fuel oil per day.

Our patented "Mega Crusher" recycling process was developed in 1995 in San Diego, California and incorporates the latest advancements in used oil filter compaction.  Using the most sophisticated technology in the industry, Vortex Recycling creates a "cradle to grave" process that produces raw materials for recycling, with no harmful by-products.
